b. Thermal turbulence is common during sunny afternoons. As the air is heated,
large "bubbles" of warm air are forced to rise in convective currents. The upward moving air
rises faster and faster until • it reaches a height where the temperature of the rising air is
cooled to the same temperature of the surrounding air.
